New England took a Chip at Clash for the Cup

Devandre Edmonds won the 12U Blue MVP for the Shooting Stars
Basketball Spotlight - Clash for the Cup
- This past weekend, a number of top New England youth ball-clubs made their way down to New Jersey to compete in the Clash for the Cup, the second leg of the Basketball Spotlight's Triple Crown and an event considered to be one of the premier winter tournaments on the East Coast.  Two squads in particular fared very well on the trip....The Mass Shooting Stars 6th graders took down the 12U Blue Division Championship by going 5-0 over the course of the weekend.  In the Championship Game against NWK out of Newark, New Jersey, Devandre Edmonds dropped in 15 points to lead the Shooting Stars to a 47-44 win to take home the Clash For The Cup 12U Blue Division Championship.  Edmonds was subsequently named the MVP.  According to Basketball Spotlight Director Mike Melton, "Edmonds played the post and made the most of his time at this event by scoring and grabbing boards. He has a soft touch and good footwork for a youngster."...Another club which fared well was the CBC 7th graders, who were the favorites coming in after taking the championship at the Tip-Off Classic in December, the first leg of the Basketball Spotlight Triple Crown.   This time around, Reggie Hatchett's club again went on a run down in New Jersey, taking care of business to advance all the way to the final, where they were upset by Team Takeover in a 55-53 nail-biter in which Jaecee Martin led the CBC scoring with 21 points.  Definitely two young clubs to keep and eye on this coming spring.
