Jared Reuter Transfers to Tabor & Class of 2015

Closer to Home - Commute over Board

Reuter to Lead 2015 Player Watch
- Informative piece below by Adam Finkelstein on the New England Recruiting Report summarizing Jared Reuter's move to Tabor.

Adam Finkelstein -"Jared Reuter will be leaving St. Mark's School and transferring to Tabor Academy.  Reuter, who was one of New England's top prospects in the class of 2014, will repeat his freshman year and join the class of 2015 according to his father.  The move brings him back much closer to his Rochester, Massachusetts home, allowing him to be a day student, after boarding last year at St. Mark's.

Reuter arrived at St. Mark's as a well known commodity but missed his entire freshman season with injury.  He returned to the court in late spring and had a strong summer with the New England Playaz despite not yet being 100%.

He currently owns scholarship offers from Indiana, St. John's, and Rutgers and has heard from the staffs at Kansas, North Carolina, and Texas among others."

Hoops Elite Academy Arrives On NE Scene

Another nice piece for NE Grassroots Basketball
www.hoopseliteacademy.com

Hoops Elite Academy Adds Value to NE Basketball
- While the older guys spent the first week of August getting some much deserved R&R after a grueling Live-July, a bunch of New England’s top incoming freshmen, 8th graders, and 7th graders were out in Hardwick, Mass attending the Hoops Elite Academy, which was held on the campus of the Eagle Hill School.  This was the first Summer for the Hoops Elite Academy, a camp which aims to prepare the talented young ball-player to be the best college basketball prospect he can be, both on the court, in the classroom, and as a member of the community.  After spending July following college basketball prospects, we can tell you that there are many players out there who would give anything to have had the opportunity to prepare themselves for the process of building an efficient college basketball prospect resume.

With a highly successful first session in the books, Hoops Elite Academy looks like a great addition to the New England Grassroots Basketball Revolution.  Let’s take a look at who impressed out in Hardwick this past week.

Player Standouts
Aaron McClean:  2015 - 6'5 F - St. Marks - Expressions
- McClean is an athletic forward who finishes above the rim with dunks and he is an absolute workhorse on the boards.  He has the same mentality on defense, where he guards multiple positions and furiously challenge shot attempts by the opposition.  Neddles to say, he has a great motor.  Offensively, Mclean's game coninues to develop.  He's shooting the ball with extended range and displaying some nice footwork in the post.  Mclean took home the Most Outstanding Defender Award.

Terance Mann - 2015 - 6'3 G - Hillside School - BABC
- First of all, this young man has the same name as the legendary Terrence Mann character played by James Earl Jones in the Kevin Costner masterpiece Field of Dreams.   In addition to this distinction, the ballplayer Terrence Mann is a silky smooth wing who shoots it with range and has the ability to drive to the hoop and finish above the rim.  He also scores in the mid-range and will go to work on the blocks if he likes a match-up.  Mann is highly flammable...when he gets it going, he gets into a zone and takes his team on his back in clutch stretches.

Bruce Brown - 2015 - 6'3 G/F - Wakefield HS - STARS
- Kerry Kittles-style combination of big-time length and athleticism on the wing.  Brown oozes potential and plays all-out with no fear.  He has speed-to-burn and gets out on the wing and can finish noisily at the rim with two-hands.  He goes for every rebound, every block, and every steal, and right now, that can get him into foul trouble, but as he learns to pick and choose his opportunities, his aggressiveness will be nothing but an asset.  Heading into his Freshman year at Wakefield HS, Brown could make noise right away between the lines.  To prepare for the Season, he'll continue to work on tightening up his handle and pull-up game, while also getting up hundreds of daily jump shots.

Chris Baldwin - 2015 - 6'7 F - Hillside School - Expressions
- Utilizing his combination of size, length, agility, and skill, Baldwin had a dominant and consistent week at camp, playing above the rim and showing a motor which is becoming more consistent by the day.  What makes Baldwin a tantalizing young prospect is his versatility.  He can play out on the perimeter and shoots the ball well from 3-pt range.  In the post, he finishes over both his left and right shoulder using a variety of drop steps, spin moves and half hooks.  Defensively, Baldwin has high-level shot blocking ability and as he develops, he will continue to get himself in more and more shot-challenging situations.  Baldwin took down the Hoops Elite Academy MVP.

Eric D’Aguanno - 2015 - 6'4 F - Narragansett HS - BABC
- D’Aguanno is a versatile combo-forward who takes smaller guys down to the post and takes bigger guys to the perimeter and attacks with the dribble.  He shoots the mid-range jumper very well and has deep range several feet beyond the three-point line.  He also competes like a son of a gun on defense and on the glass, and he'll get on the floor in a hurry for a loose ball.  D’Aguanno took home the Blue vs. White Showcase MVP award and will be entering HS as player to keep an eye on.

Tyree Weston - 2015 - 6'2 G - Tabor Academy - Expressions
-Weston is a natural scorer who lets the game come to him.  He has a powerful body which allows him to finish through contact.  He scores in a variety of ways.  He gets out and fills the lane in transition, shoots the 3-ball, uses the dribble to attack the basket, crashes the offensive boards for put-backs, and he has a nicely developing mid-range pull game.  Weston also has the ability to handle it, playing at the point guard spot at times during the week.  On the defensive end, Weston really puts on the hard-hat and uses his strength and athleticism to be a disruption.  In addition to his hard work on the court, Weston worked extremely hard in the classroom, taking home the Student-Athlete Award for his performance both on and off the court.

Sultan Olusekun - 2015 - 5'10 G - Belmont Hill - Expressions
- Plays the game at his speed and has the rare ability to play with the role of a high-level facilitator on the floor.   He has a high basketball IQ and has a little Derek Harper in his game in that he is a facilitator, has a crisp, steady handle and is a bulldog defensively guarding the ball.  In terms of his own offensive game,  Olusekun has blow-by speed with the dribble and looks to either finish at the rim or get into his mid-range pull-up game.  He also knocks down the 3-point shot and is a natural leader on the floor, resulting in Olusekun taking home the Leadership Award.

Jordan Galloway - 2017- 5'5 G - Smith Leadership Academy - MABC
One of the youngest players at camp, the rising 7th grader showed out against the older guys, showing off a tight handle, deep three-point range, and lighting quick speed which he used to get into the paint, where he impressed with his ability to consistently finish with his floater,  Galloway progressed tremendously throughout the week, earning a spot on the Blue vs. White Showcase.

Keyshaad Dixon - 2016 - 5'11 G - Braintree, MA - Boston Spartans
- Only a rising 8th grader, Dixon plays a floor game far beyond his age.  He possesses a tight handle, a pure jump-shot, and gets to the basket with the bounce.  If he likes a match-up Dixon will also take his man down low and go to work on the block.  What's most noticeable about Dixon is that he plays with a calm demeanor and does not get rattled.  Throughout the week, he handled the ball efficiently against pressure and also hit a game winner in a back and forth thriller.  Dixon took home the Most Outstanding Underclassmen Award.

Taj-Amir Hazard - 2015 - 5'10 G - Amherst Regional HS
- A lighting quick guard, Hazard blows by defenders with the dribble to create or he'll also use his strength to finish through contact at the basket.  He uses his athleticism defensively to cause fits for the opposition, pressuring ball-handlers and creating havoc in the passing lanes.  Hazard also showed a nice pull up jumper and the ability to make big plays in clutch situations.  Hazard took home the Most Outstanding Playmaker Award.

Tom Bajda Transferring to Winchendon

A Little Thunder Dan Majerle Flavor

Bajda to Join the Prep Ranks
- As we've stated before, the Spaceship is stationed in Eastern New England and is still working to establish live communication with the Western part of the Region.  As evidence, tonight, on August 5th, the Spaceship is reporting news which first broke in the first part of July.  Tom Bajda, a 6'4 wing who was very effective for the CBC 17s in 2011, playing as glue-guy between the star-studded CBC guards and post-men, will transfer from Stratford HS to Winchendon this Fall and will reclassify in the Class of 2013.  He'll join players such as Akosa Maduegbunam and Tevin Falzon on the Winchendon Roster.

D-Smith Headed to Indiana Prep Power-House

- Damion Smith, who blew up this Summer in BABC's 15u National Championship Run by averaging 26ppg, will be headed to the State of Indiana to attend basketball-powerhouse La Lumiere Prep..Smith will roll into town with a familiar face in former BABC teammate and former New England-resident Johnnie Vassar, who will join Smith in Lumiere's Class of 2014.   Smith and Vassar will be joining a loaded Lumiere ball-player fraternity which includes Haner Perea (ESPN #49 committed to Indiana), Raphael Davis (ESPN #72 committed to Purdue), 7-ft monster Obij Aget, and Southern Illinois-bound PG Antonio Drummond.  With D-Smith on board at Lumiere, the Spaceship is excited for the excuse to cover a ball-club as loaded as Lumiere.

Kuran Iverson Lists His Favorites

- Out of all the noise New England ballplayers made last month, there was one big-time guy who was somewhat quiet.  Although he did run with the LI Lightning 16s at a number of events, Kuran Iverson for the entire Summer seemed to escape the eye of New England, specifically Eastern New England, where the Spaceship is currently docked.  Anyway, none of that has anything to do with the fact that Iverson is a big time prospect that should be wearing NBA socks by the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

In terms of his recruitment and what schools he is considering, according to Alex Kline of The Recruit Scoop, Iverson currently lists Syracuse, Missouri, Kentucky, UConn, Louisville, Maryland & Miami (FL).  Iverson is a rising Junior at Northwest Catholic in Hartford, where he will team up with 2014 guard Kahari Beaufort to form one of New England's most powerful one-two punches.

Nerlens Noel & Ricky Ledo Join Forces on Team USA East at Nike Global Challenge

Double 7-4
- Nerlens Noel and Ricardo Ledo both have 7-letter first names and 4-letter last names, which is probably the reason why they are good buddies. This morning, Nerlens and Ricky are flying out to Oregon where they'll team-up on Team USA East in the Nike Global Challenge.  The Tournament will feature 8 teams: China, Canada, Germany, Puerto Rico, Brazil, USA East, USA Midwest, and USA West.  Joining Noel and Ledo on Team USA East will be Dajuan Coleman, James Robinson, Jerami Grant, Omar Calhoun, Brice Johnson, Cameron Beidscheid, and Braxton Ogbueze.  Stay tuned...We'll keep you updated.

Jared Reuter Offered by St Johns & Rutgers

Photo - NERR
Set to Break Out at St. Marks
- After missing the first five months or so of 2011 with an injury, Jared Reuter came back for the New England Playaz in June and got right to work.  After earning an offer from Indiana after attending their Elite Camp in June, the young 6'8 behemoth ran with both the New England Playaz 16s and 17s this Summer.  The rising-Sophomore was very impressive and showed that he will be one of New England's top big men over the next few years.  After seeing his New England Class of 2014 classmates Wayne Selden, Noah Vonleh, and Jared Terrell reel in the offers recently, Reuter decided to get in on the fun too.  According to NERR, in addition to an Indian-offer, Jared also now holds offers from Rutgers and St. Johns.  That's a total of 3 high-major offers for the incoming Sophomore at St. Marks, and that's basketball offers, not sure about the football situation, but given the kid's size, toughness, and athletic ability, I wouldn't be surprised if guys like Lane Kiffin, Steve Spurrier, and Joe Paterno had already sent him B-Day Invites too.  Needless to say, St. Marks may need to assign an extra mailbox to Reuter for the next for the next few years.

Donovan Love Transfers to The Hillside School

D-Love Hillside Bound
- Heading into August, Donovan Love was the highest rated guard on the HoopRootz Class of 2015 Player Watch.  Well, you can throw that out the window, because D-Love is transferring to Hillside Academy where he'll re-classify to the Class of 2016, where he and Caesar Adim will vie for the top spot.  At Hillside, Love joins two highly-rated players in the Class of 2015 in his Expressions teammate Chris Baldwin and fast-rising prospect Terrence Mann of BABC.  Hillside will definitely be a team worth going to watch next season.
.

Player Watch=Player Rankings?? Not Exactly...

It's All Good, It's Alright, Play All Day, Sing All Night
- Player Watch's are somewhat different than Player Rankings.  While Player Rankings "specifically" rank players according to their overall potential as a prospect, Player Watch's list players "loosely" according to their overall potential as a prospect.  The only way to accurately grade players against one another is to see those players play multiple times against top competition, and we simply have not seen everyone play enough if at all.  So don't pay too much attention to the #'s because in a lot of cases, we are sure they are misleading.  However, as time matriculates and we see more basketball, the Player Watch will be become more and more accurate, and eventually be worthy of being re- named Player Rankings.

J-Brantley "Considering all Schools Equally"

Big-Time Floor General

J-Brant's Recruitment is Wide-Open
- Jaylen Brantley today cleared some things up regarding his recruitment.  Given the fact that he is only entering his junior year, Brantley has decided that he no longer has any favorites (Syracuse & Louisville had previously been named the frontrunners) and that he is going into the school year considering all schools equally.  Smart decision.  A wise man considers all options.

Nerlens Noel Coming Out with a List of Schools?

Get Ready for the Paprazzi

Super 3: Noel, Randle, & Parker
- Along with Julius Randle of Dallas and Jabari Parker from Chicago, Everett's Nerlens Noel will be the most highly-coveted basketball recruit in the Class of 2013.  To date, Noel has been mum on the subject, but word on the block is that Nerlens is going to come out with a list in the next couple of weeks.  Looking into crystal ball, the Spaceship predicts that Kentucky, Providence, and UConn will be on that list.  We shall see and best believe we'll be along for the ride.

Jaylen Brantley's Top-Two Facing Challengers

Hoyas Come Callin'

Merlin's Offer Stack Getting Thick
- Heading into August, Jaylen Brantley stated that the two favorites for his services were Syracuse and Louisville.  But as expected, other big time programs are attempting to get in on the race.  After an offer from Seton Hall yesterday, J-Brant this morning received an offer from John Thompson and Georgetown.  It will be interesting to see whether any of these schools are able to make up the necessary ground to compete with Jim Boeheim and Rick Pitino.

Jaylen now holds offers from Georgetown, Louisville, Syracuse, Seton Hall, Missouri, Iowa St, Richmond, Hofstra, URI, Virginia, and more.
.

Jared Terrell: Another Day, Another Offer

The Big-Time Recruitment of Jared Terrell is On

Sophomore-to-be Has Officially Arrived
- Jared Terrell added another offer this morning from Temple.  Things are picking up quickly for JT, and oh yeah, he's only a rising-sophomore...Now that I think of it, it's good thing that Terrell and Vonleh aren't rooming together at New Hampton.  The phone and mail would be non-stop.

Jared now holds offers from Temple, Providence, Rutgers, Cincinnati, and Boston College.

Five Questions on the Mind in Early August

London Olympics of 2012 for Ledo?

Five Questions As August Begins
- Where will Andre Drummond be this Fall?  Despite the denials, I am still predicting he ends up at Wilbraham & Monson, but that's based on a crystal ball rather than information.

- When will Kaleb Tarczewski make his decision between North Carolina, Kansas, and Arizona?  The word has been that he would make a decision in early August, so the warning sirens are on...The prediction here is Kansas...another Crystal Ball Prediction based on spirits, not info.

- Who is the front-runner for Jake Layman?  Florida? Syracuse? Maryland? Who?

- Whats up with Ricky Ledo?  When will he decide on a college program?  Providence?  UConn?  Kentucky?  No prediction here, the crystal ball came out foggy.

- Will any other big name players transfer in to a New England Prep School in August?  So far, players like Mitch McGary, Deonte Burton, Myles Davis, Nick Stauskas, Chris Thomas, TJ Warren, Jamel Artis, Dacquain McNeil, Samuel Dingba, Oliver Hanlon and more (I'm sure I missed a few, lo ciento if it's you) have already punched their tickets to come to the Gauntlet next month.  Who else will join?
