NEPSAC AAA + AA Wednesday Report

Steven Adams makes his big debut this weekend for ND Prep
NEPSAC Class AAA + Ind - 1/12/12
Tier #1
Brewster Academy (12-0) - The Brew Crew improved to 12-0 on the season with a 14 point win yesterday over Redemption Christian Academy (NY).   The Bobcats will play MCI on Friday before taking on Tilton at the Hoophall Classic on Sunday afternoon on ESPN3.

Tier #2
Northfield Mount Hermon (13-1) - After a tight 1st half, the Hoggers ran away from Deerfield to win by a score of 90-49 behind 26 points from Skyler White.  NMH faces St Thomas More on Friday and then Worcester Academy on Sunday.

New Hampton (12-3) - Noah Vonleh led the way with 22 as the Huskies handed St Thomas More their first loss of the season.  The Huskies are now 12-3 and they'll play Notre Dame Prep on Sunday in Springfield at the Hoophall Classic right after Tilton/Brewster, also on ESPN3.

South Kent (7-4) - Ricky Ledo dropped 35 and Chris Ortiz registered 26 points and 15 boards as South Kent beat Hotchkiss for their 2nd win in a row and improved their record to 7-4. They'll play Leadership Prep Academy out of Hartford on Sunday.

St Thomas More (9-1) - Dropped their first contest of the season at New Hampton.  Big one against NMH on Friday.

Notre Dame Prep (10-5) - With Steven Adams officially in the fold, Ryan Hurd's squad is a legit contender for the National Prep Championship.  Adams will jump in the deep end right away this weekend as ND plays Tilton on Saturday and New Hampton on Sunday.

Tier #3
Bridgton Academy (12-5) - Amir Garrett's departure for St John's leaves Whit Lesure's club a little less scary.

Maine Central Institute (6-6) - After beating Philips Exeter over the weekend, MCI won their second in a row yesterday over Lee Academy.  They'll head to Brewster tomorrow.

Lee Academy (15-6) - Dropped one to MCI yesterday...they'll play at Putnam Science next week.

Another buzzer-beater for Merlin
NEPSAC Class AA + Ind - 1/12/12
1) Tilton (13-2) - Georges Niang exploded for 38 points while Nerlens Noel registered a sickening triple-double line of 20 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks, & 7 assists as the Rams won by double-digits over Winchendon.  Big weekend ahead as the Tilt will face Steven Adams and Notre Dame Prep on Saturday at the BABC Classic and then Brewster on Sunday in Springfield at the Hoop Hall Classic.

2) St Marks (11-2) - After a blowout win yesterday over Middlesex, the Lions will embark on a Class B-flavored weekend as they face Roxbury Latin on Friday and Beaver on Saturday.

3) Wilbraham and Monson (10-3) -  Jaylen Brantley led the way with 22 and added to his folklore with yet another game-winning buzzer beater to give the Titans a 63-60 win over Vermont Academy.  Big weekend ahead as WMA will face Marianapolis on Saturday at the BABC Prep Classic and then St Thomas More on Sunday at the Hoophall.

4) Putnam Science (8-3) - Dayshon Smith led the way with 23 as the Mustangs got a big win over Cushing Academy.  Huge game tomorrow night against cross-town rival Marianapolis.

5) Cushing (8-2) - After suffering their first loss of the season last Saturday against Tilton, the Penguins dropped their 2nd in a row to Putnam Science.  They'll look to get back on track Saturday as they host red-hot Kimball Union.

6) Vermont Academy (7-4) - Fell to 7-4 yesterday as they dropped a tight one to WMA.  They'll hit the road this weekend as they travel to New York City to compete in the Big Apple Invitational.

7) Kimball Union (10-2) - Junior wing Devin Gilligan led the scoring with 18 as KUA rolled to an easy win over Phillips Exeter.  Big match-up this weekend on the road against Cushing.

8) St Andrews (9-3) - Cedric Kuakumensah and the gang are up competing in Canada right now.  Probably real cold.

9) Worcester Academy (6-4) - After missing the 2nd half of the football season and the first portion of the basketball season with a turf-toe injury, Canaan Severrin is now back on the hardwood for the Hilltoppers.  Headed to the University of Virginia next year on a football scholarship, Severrin is the type of explosive wing athlete who should add a whole new dimension to Jamie Sullivan's ball-club heading into a big match-up on Sunday against Northfield Mt Hermon at the BABC Prep Classic.

10) Marianapolis (7-4) - MP will try to get back on track on the road at Hebron Academy today before they play a huge rivalry game tomorrow against Putnam Science.
