The Steven Adams Situation

Steven Adams: Young Gandalf in the flesh?
A weekend to remember for Mr Zealand
- Put the Pink Floyd Station on Pandora and put the volume at medium...now sit back and relax and keep your eyes on the clock as it swings back and forth from side to side. Take long deep breaths through your nose and exhale slowly out of your mouth. You should be getting sleepy now, very sleepy....ok, listen carefully...Your name is Steven Adams and a you're a seven-footer from the town of Wellington in New Zealand, on the other side of the world.  You look like Adam Morrison...You haven't played an organized basketball game since last August and you just arrived in America a little more than a week ago...After three or four practices with teammates who you barely know, Martin Luther King Weekend arrives and you are tossed right into the piranha tank with some of the deadliest sharks Eastern Massachusetts has ever seen.  Oh yeah, the basketball world in it's entirety is right there watching every piece of action that transpires in the tank.  Your are hungry, you have to eat, but it's dangerous...What do you do???  Here's what Gandalf Adams did...Against Tilton on Saturday at the BABC Prep Classic in Boston, Adams went for 23 points and 13 rebounds against the best big man in America in Nerlens Noel.  Then, on Sunday, on another big stage at the Hoophall Classic, Adams thwarted the New Hampton front-line at the basket throughout the contest as Notre Dame earned an impressive win over New Hampton.  From Springfield, Adams and NDP traveled to NYC where they faced St Thomas More today in the Big Apple Invitational and after a slow start, Adams erupted for a monster second-half to lead NDP to a 77-72 comeback win.  Adams finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 blocks...While his critics will claim that he struggled with his offensive game, the Magi understand that the skill set is there and the offense will come..the kid is simply adjusting on the fly to life on another planet...Obviously, like every player, he'll hit some bumps in the road, but in the end, the Spaceship Verdict states that Adams is the real deal and a Lottery Pick to the Show.
