Tom Hunt: Ocean State's top sniper
Rhode Island State Championship Race: D1 - D2, D3
Derek Malloy with Buzz Naismith - There are three highly-coveted Cups up for grabs this winter in the Ocean State of Rhode Island.  In Division One, out to a 5-0 start and armed with the state's best inside-outside combination in junior floor-general Charles Correa and senior swing-man Cesar Meija, St Raphael Academy is the the clear-cut favorite.  Another D1 contender is Central HS, who, behind the trio of Jarrell Lawson, Daniel Mendes, and Jerrelle Washington, is out to an impressive 3-1 start, with their lone-loss a close defeat to St Raph's on opening night.  Another dangerous D1 contender is Mark Bayha's ball-club at LaSalle HS, which won 3 straight out of the gate before dropping one to Mount Pleasant on Friday night.  With junior gunner Tom Hunt and a talented supporting cast, LaSalle will be right there in the thick of it...Other Rhode Island D1 teams to keep an eye on are Mt Pleasant HS, Cranston East HS, and Coventry HS...In terms of the Division Two Ocean State Cup, the clear-cut favorite can be found at North Providence HS, where Rob Hazard and Austin Bemmelen combine to form the top back-court in the state.  North Providence is out to a 3-0 start, with both Hazard and Bemmelen averaging 20+ ppg...In Division Three, the favorite for the Cup looks to be a Prout HS ball-club which is out to a 4-0 start behind 25ppg from Erik Remieka.  Another contender is a Johnston HS ball-club that has begun 2-0 behind 19ppg from Ryan Anderson and 16.5ppg from Evan Hopson.
