CBC 13s still on the free-style grind

Jaecee Martin: Named Tournament MVP
Basketball Spotlight Tip-Off Classic
- While New England high school ballplayers are off and running with their scholastic season(s), the middle school rollers are still on their free-style grind...and this past weekend, that grind took several New England middle school-aged AAU teams down to Hoop Group Headquarters in New Jersey to compete in the Basketball Spotlight Tip-Off Classic.  In addition to the Shooting Stars and Boston Titans 8th grade squads, another club that went down was the Connecticut Basketball Club (CBC) 7th graders.  Known on the circuit as the 'Money Team,' they're considered to be one of the top 13u teams on the East Coast and heading into the weekend, Head Coach Reggie Hatchett's squad was featured as a favorite in an article on the Basketball Spotlight.  They did not disappoint.  According to the Basketball Spotlight's Mike Melton, "Jaecee Martin scored 15 points and Ismail Charles added 14 makers as CBC defeated Milbank 63-57 to win the Basketball Spotlight 13U Championship."  CBC guard Jaecee “Mayweather” Martin was named the Tip-Off Classic 7th grade MVP.  Melton wrote, "Maywether came out swinging the entire tournament. If he wasn’t scoring he was making sure their wealth of talent was satisfied. His impact on the game is obvious and cannot be ignored. This weekend he either ripped ball handlers or broke down defenders."  Read the full  story on the Basketball Spotlight.
