The Maestro leads BABC to Peach Jam Title |
BABC Fights off YOMCA for Crown
- On Friday night, BABC fought off a hard-charging Memphis YOMCA ball-club in the first-half before opening it up in the 2nd and pulling away to win by 17, 84-67. The victory gives BABC the biggest Chip of them all...the 2011 Nike EYBL/Peach Jam Championship. Everybody with a laptop in New England has already written a summary of the game, so the Spaceship will spare ya another.
BABC entered Live-July with a goal of completing the Grand Slam of Peach Jam + the 15u, 16u, & 17u AAU National Championships. Well, halfway through July, BABC is 2 for 2 and well within reach of it's goal of completing the Grand Slam. If BABC does in fact complete the Grand Slam, it will be an accomplishment unlike any other in the history of Grassroots Basketball. So as you follow BABC through the rest of the summer, pay attention as if you are witnessing history, not just reading the sports page. It is also important to note that after a career full of best-sellers, Leo Papile, as we speak, is working on his Masterpiece right before our eyes. Not trying to get this guy on the Spaceship for dinner or anything, but you have to marvel at the wizardry of his orchestra out on the highest stages of Grassroots Basketball.
Peach Jam Finals Game Notes
- Rene Castro saved his best game for last, makin a mess of the stat sheet with 12 points, 7 boards, 4 assists with zero turnovers, and 4 steals..Waitin to hear on who is offering this kid up...
- Jaylen Brantley capped off a message-sending performance at Peach Jam with 24 points on 9-15 shooting and 4-5 from 3. The kid can simply can score the ball and effectively run a ball club and win, win, and then again. Iowa State offered and Louisville is said to be favorite at this point...Could get juicy. Who wouldn't want this guy? Get in him in the National Rankings please Big Boys.
- Jeff Borzello of cbssports.com tweeted before the game on Friday night, "Going to be a big-time battle inside with Nerlens Noel against Jarnell Stokes and Shaq Goodwin." The Spaceship tweeted back "Georges Niang 'could' help Nerlens out in this tussle...does it every time out there, no?" Well Georges made the Spaceship look like Theo Epstein, because he had a monster game against YOMCA in scoring 21 points on 9-12 shooting from the floor. He also shot 3-3 from the line and grabbed 7 boards and 2 steals. Georges Niang is going to be the biggest recruit Iowa St. has welcomed since Marcus Fizer. ESPN needs to make a move and slip him up quietly somewhere in the middle of that Top 100.
- Nerlens Noel capped off a historic performace at Peach Jam with a tantalizing line of 17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 blocks, and 4 steals. This kid is the best and he's like an Ancient Egyptian Pharoah, with that magical gift of being able to dominate a game without scoring the ball. Get the kid to #1 in 2013..Jabari Parker and Julius Randle are the real deals as well, but hey, we are going to look back and marvel at the talent at the top of this class.
