- In their final pool-play game this morning, in which BABC rested Rene Castro, Nerlens Noel, Jaylen Brantley, and Georges Niang, BABC fell in overtime to a high-octane Howard Pulley Squad out of Minnesota. BABC should really benefit from how this game played out. Not only were they able to rest the four players above, they were also able to get a couple other players going who'd been quiet through the first 4 games at Peach Jam. Jake Layman exploded for 29 points on 12-14 shooting and 7 rebounds. This kid is like Andre Kirilinko, can play anywhere. Also for BABC, Andrew Chrabascz went 8-8 from the floor and registered 23 points . Wayne Selden threw in 12 points, 5 dimes, and 2 steals. And Dominique Bull had a nice game with 9 points, 10 boards from the guard position, and 4 assists.
The reason that BABC rested players was that they had already clinched the highest seed possible in winning their first 4 games, so there was no incentive in a W when looking at the overall BABC mission of a Crown. In 20 minutes, at 6pm, BABC plays in the Quarters against Team Takeover out of the DC/Maryland/Virginia area, the Peach Jam Defending Champions and the #1 team in the Five Star Top #25. However, they are appear to be a heavy-weight champion on the ropes. They went 3-2 in Pool Play and have key players with nagging injuries. Furthermore, BABC really outclasses Team Takeover in the Thoroughbred Department, and if the BABC's guys play at their typical level, they should get it done tonight. Go get it fellas.
